I have been interested in Health and Wellness for as long as I can remember. Primarily this stems from my love of sport, there are very few sports I haven't played to some level at some point in my life: football, cricket, rugby (league and union), squash, tennis, badminton, swimming, gaelic football, raquetball, climbing, athletics... the list feels endless! As a keen amateur athlete I began at quite a young age to take increasing interest in my body and it's function. This lead initially to my early careers in Leisure and Tourism as a lifeguard and swimming teacher. From these my initial intention was to embark on a career in Physiotherapy, but through fortunate circumstance (my mother's back complaint - perhaps less fortunate for her...) I discovered Chiropractic right here at the Family Chiropractic Centre, although it wasn't called that back then!
The concept of Chiropractic appealed to me immediately - the idea of holistic, natural healing focussed on function and maximising potential seemed right up my street! The more I learnt about the practice of Chiropractic the more I liked it!
I graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in 2007 and whilst studying was able to continue my sporting interests, representing the University in both football and badminton, eventually becoming team captain, coach and manager in the latter. This further directed me towards one of my areas of special interest within my chosen field of Chiropractic; management and prevention of sports injury. Further interests are in treatment and rehabilitation of shoulder and neck injuries and I have also completed research into the effects of psychological issues on the complaints of my patients.
Following my graduation I was happy to return to my hometown of Harrogate to further my Chiropractic career with the great team here at the Family Chiropractic & Physiotherapy Centre, and was delighted when I was offered the chance to become a partner in 2008. I am committed to taking this centre forward in the years to come and have high hopes for its continued success!
